2014 Yamaha MT-125: The youngest of the series
The “Master of Torque” of Yamaha family grows up to 5 models with the arrival of a new member, a streetfighter version of the YZF-R125 with the same spirit of the naked MT-07 and MT -09.
2 months ago Yamaha left us wanting after suggesting a new mount for the 2014. We had not clear whether it would be a sport or naked, or was coming to Europe, but now we can confirm that. So far, Yamaha had only the YBR as stair access to the naked segment, a utilitarian and economic motorcycle intended for everyday use.
The new MT-125 comes with an aggressive and personal design, reinforced by a powerful 125 cc engine with the same DNA of its big brothers, the Yamaha MT-09 and Yamaha MT-07. The new MT-125 shares the same features that have made famous the MT family, such as torque, agility, aggressive riding position and a minimalist and striking design.
The Yamaha MT-125 premieres deposit, handlebars and seat, along with new footpegs, all to get a more relaxed riding position that YZF-R125 sports. Due to its more compact tank, the posture moved 42 mm forward while the seat height reduces 5 mm up to being located in 820 mm. The handlebar with large tapered aluminum fasteners also contributes to the relaxed driving the whole because it is now 100 mm higher and 35 mm delayed with respect to the YZF-R125.
The design of the instrumentation LCD is inspired by the aesthetics of smartphones and has a bar-based design that features shift indicator and tachometer (at start the bike even greets the driver with an animation).
The new Yamaha MT-125 reach the market in July at a price of €4,299. The YZF-R125 will cost €4,399.
