As expected the differences with the far more powerful Monster, 1100 EVO, are many and important. Starting with the engine mounts the Testastretta 11º DS derivative from the Superbike 1198, in the standard version renders 135 hp at 8,750 rpm with maximum torque of 118 Nm at 7,250 rpm. In for the “S” power amounts to 145 hp with a maximum torque of 124.5 Nm. The dry weight in both versions is 182 kg.

The adoption of the new engine is required to make a new chassis also makes the Monster look even more “muscular”. It trellis and has movable fixing points in the “head” of the new engine, as is the case with the 1199 Panigale.

In comparison with the 1100 EVO, the wheelbase is 60 mm larger, while the handlebar is higher. The seat has been completely redesigned and enhanced with red stitching on the model S. Thanks to a handy quick adjustment mechanism can be lowered to 785 mm height.

The suspensions in the basic version consist of a range of 43 mm Kayaba and Sachs shock, adjustable for preload and the rebound. In the “S” both the 48 mm fork and shock absorber are Ohlins, both fully adjustable. Brakes as usual the Brembo Company and in both versions the ABS is Bosch, in the “S” version of the M50 are monoblock calipers and 330 mm disk derivative from Superbike.

The latest technology conducted by the Bolognese firm will be present at the Monster 1200 as traction control, three operating modes, ride by wire, a new digital control box with lots of information and much more.
