BMW launches F800 GS Adventure, more capable and better equipped
The Bavarian firm has just launched a version of its F800 GS Adventure which, like its “older sister” of 1200, equips a higher capacity tank, ABS as standard and a new driving mode “Enduro”, among other things.
With this launch BMW has followed the path of the popular 1200 GS, which also offers a variant Adventure. This version retains the main features of the standard model but with certain nuances. It has a reinforced rear subframe due to the increased volume of the tank (24 liters, i.e. 8 liters more than the deposit of the F800 GS), which allows you to have greater autonomy.
The Adventure comes as standard with ABS. You can also optionally be equipped with automatic control system stability ASC and Electronic Suspension Adjustment system ESA. Its can be ordered from the factory as optional equipment or retrofitted as special accessories.
If the bike is equipped with the ASC, the new F800 GS Adventure includes new function mode ‘enduro’ offroad driving. With this function, the driver has only to press a button to increase the limit of slip allowed by the ABS and ASC-road driving. In this way, the bike optimizes acceleration and braking on loose surfaces, resulting in more dynamic driving style.
Other changes from the standard version are new larger seat and largest dome, which better protects against wind and rain, and hand protectors. The standard equipment of the F 800 GS Adventure is completed by enduro stirrups wider, reinforced brake pedal and adjustable engine protective bar and bracket to accommodate suitcases, in turn, acts as a protective tank.
The engine remains unchanged is the 798 cc two-cylinder, four-valve per cylinder, water cooled system and provided with electronic fuel injection and catalyst regulated. This engine has an output of 63 kW (85 hp) at 7,500 rpm and its maximum torque is 83 Nm at 5,750 rpm.
The new F800 GS Adventure first appear as a special edition “Launch Edition”, limited to 1,000 copies. The main features of this edition are Sandrover Matte color and three equipment versions. The comfort equipment includes on-board computer, heated grips and center stand. The equipment of the Enduro version “Launch Edition” includes ASC and “enduro mode”. A special accessory set consisting of lockable aluminum cases, support for a topcase and the navigation system BMW Motorrad Navigator Adventure with support and all the cables, complete the equipment that you can carry the model release.
